The 9th annual Alternative Gift Market / Mitzvah Mall was held at Christ Church on November 12, 2006, and raised $12,555 for 31 charities worldwide.

The AGM/MM is sponsored by five diverse Summit houses of worship - Christ Church, Fountain Baptist, the Summit Jewish Community Center, St. Teresa Roman Catholic Church and Temple Sinai. Fifteen committee members from all five houses of worship select the non profit agencies which are invited to participate.

Committee members are guided by our mission which is to work together in ecumenical partnership to provide an opportunity for the community to purchase meaningful, non-material holiday gifts while supporting non-profit organizations locally, nationally, and internationally. Favorite organizations which return year after year are Heifer Project International, Habitat for Humanity, Greater Newark Conservancy, Def Dance Jam Workshop, Doctors Without Borders, and others. Shoppers always come away with information about an agency and a token gift to give to their loved one for the holidays.

Since its inception in 1997, the AGM/MM has raised over $150,000. [ flyer ]
