SOS, which stands for Sundays of Sharing, has taken place here since 1943. It is a fund that extends outreach at Christ Church and is administered by the Board of World Fellowship (BWF). SOS money is used both for non-emergency grants that BWF makes annually, and for gifts in response to extraordinary events like war and natural disasters. The SOS campaign begins formally today, the First Sunday of Lent, and continues until Easter Day.

Board of World Fellowship will meet on Tuesday, March 3, at 7:30 PM in the Conference Room. The BWF, the outreach and mission arm of Christ Church, supports local, national, and international organizations and projects. The current members of BWF welcome all those who would like to join the board in identifying, evaluating, and selecting the groups that will receive church funds in 2009. If you would like to join BWF, please contact us at .

The Music and Fine Arts Committee invites all to come between services today, Sunday, March 1st, to Barnwell Hall to enjoy the opening of our art show of Christ Church community artists: We have works by Jeny McCullough, Katy Briber, Florence Swanstrom, Tom Martinez and Amy Hayes. The works were hung by Christ Church member and Art Consultant Eileen O'Brien. The Committee will provide muffins, coffee cake, etc., for your enjoyment. Some of the artists will be present and a listing of the works, and which are for sale, will be available in Barnwell Hall. Please come enjoy the beautiful works of some of our talented Christ Church community!

Help Katrina Victims by Volunteering to rebuild homes in the Biloxi, Mississippi area: May 3 through May 9, 2009. Must be 16 years or older; 16 - 18 years olds must have a liability release signed by a parent or guardian. Volunteers will be doing sheet rock, taping, spackling, painting, insulation, etc. If you don't know how, we will show you how.

Maple Shade Congregational Church, UCC in Maple Shade, NJ, and Warminster UCC in Warminster, PA are sponsoring this trip! Host is the Back Bay Mission of the UCC. (The mission lost all seven of their buildings to Katrina. The mission is helping people who cannot afford it to rebuild their homes!)

Cost is $75 (for lodging, group fee and use of tools). You are responsible for getting to Biloxi! We will try and get good airfare and fly together as much as possible! It is best to fly into Gulfport. We will coordinate the sharing of the cost to rent van/cars while we are there. We will buy groceries for breakfast and share in the costs for the meals we make and eat together! At times we will eat out...usually supper!

We will stay in air-conditioned splendor at the Back Bay Mission. There we have our own kitchen with dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge, oven, stove, etc. There are two bathrooms with tubs and showers and room for fourteen people.

Please contact James Leamon by e-mail at as soon as possible if you would like to go! Only 14 slots to fill so it has to be first come…first serve.  –   –
